Rory McIlroy, from Holywood in Northern Ireland, has been one of the world's best golfers since he won the 2011 US Open by eight shots at the age of 22. He added the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships and the 2014 Open, and in April 2025 he won the Masters to become only the sixth man to complete golf's career Grand Slam. He won the Masters again in 2026.

The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 put his wealth at £325 million, seventh among Britain's sports figures, and JOE's report on the list described him as Britain's richest sportsman under 40. That is about $435 million at the October 22, 2026 exchange rate.

How he made his money

McIlroy's fortune combines prize money and some of the biggest endorsement deals in golf. In 2024, the Sunday Times estimated his earnings on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour at more than £65 million, according to Insider Media, which also noted his £1.29 million prize for winning the 2023 Scottish Open.

Most of the rest comes from sponsors. The 2024 report named Nike, Omega and TaylorMade among his partners. It also said he owns homes in Dubai, New York and Florida. Unlike several rivals, he stayed on the PGA Tour rather than taking a large upfront payment to join LIV Golf.

A fast-rising Rich List figure

McIlroy's estimate has climbed every year we checked. The Sunday Times put him at £225 million in its 2024 40 Under 40 rankings, second among sports stars behind Lewis Hamilton. In 2025 it rose to £260 million after his first Masters win, and the 2026 list raised it to £325 million.

We show these figures exactly as the Sunday Times published them, in pounds, and link each one to the report we checked. We have not updated them ourselves, and the dollar figure is only a currency conversion.

The Sunday Times Rich List measures identifiable wealth, such as land, property, business stakes and significant shareholdings. It cannot see private bank accounts, so the real figure may be higher or lower.
