Since the earliest online report (2013)
Compares the 2013 report with the 2025 report, using the same method for both. He took office in 2002. The Senate's online database has his electronic reports from 2013 on, so we can't show his wealth when he first took office. Changes can come from a spouse’s assets, market moves, property values, new debts or how filers choose bands, and the forms do not say which. We do not guess.

Where the money comes from
Main sources named in the disclosures and the reporting we cite. The forms don’t split the total into exact amounts, so we don’t show percentages.
John Cornyn reported household assets minus debts of $392K to $2.29M, a midpoint of about $1.34M, on his latest financial disclosure (Annual Report for CY 2025, filed May 13, 2026).
John Cornyn has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since 2002. Before that he was a state district judge, an associate justice of the Texas Supreme Court from 1991 to 1997 and Texas attorney general from 1999 to 2002.
In the Senate he chaired the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2009 to 2013 and served as Republican whip from 2013 to 2019. He ran for a fifth term in 2026 but lost the Republican nomination to Ken Paxton in a May runoff.
What his 2025 disclosure shows
The report he filed on May 13, 2026 covers 2025. It lists 25 assets with a value, adding up to $1 million to $2.6 million. The largest are Fundamental Investors Class A Shares (spouse, $250K–$500K); The Growth Fund of America Class A Shares ($100K–$250K) and New Perspective Fund Class A Shares ($100K–$250K). Another one item is listed with no value or an undetermined value, such as a pension, so it is not counted.
On the debt side, the report lists three debts adding up to $315,000 to $650,000. The largest is a mortgage with Wells Fargo, held jointly, in the $250K–$500K band. Subtracting debts the same way gives a range of $392,000 to $2.3 million, with a midpoint of about $1.3 million. The Senate form lists mortgages but usually not the homes they are on, so counting those mortgages as debts pulls the low end of the range down.
How the range has changed
Using the same method for every year, the midpoint of his disclosed range went from about −$81,000 on his 2013 report to about $1.3 million on his 2025 report. The lowest was about −$256,000, in 2014. The chart shows 13 reports from 2013 to 2025, each added up the same way, and nothing is filled in between them.
These are ranges built from the value bands on each form, not exact values. They move with market prices, property values, new or paid-off debts and the bands a filer picks, and the forms do not say which of these caused a change. Like every member of Congress, Cornyn does not have to report a home he lives in, cars and personal belongings, or federal retirement savings such as the Thrift Savings Plan, so his real net worth could be higher than these forms show.
