Imran Khan is Pakistan's greatest all-rounder and its most famous cricketer. A fast bowler and hard-hitting batter, he took 362 Test wickets and captained Pakistan to its only 50-over World Cup in 1992, his last match as a player. He then raised the money to build the Shaukat Khanum cancer hospital in Lahore, named after his mother.
In 1996 he founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, and in 2018 he became prime minister. He was removed by a no-confidence vote in 2022 and has been in prison since 2023. The documents filed with his nomination papers for the 2024 election, reported by Dawn, put his net worth at about Rs 315.95 million.
What he declared
Dawn reported that Khan's declared net worth rose from Rs 38.69 million in 2018 to about Rs 315.95 million in 2024. A large part of that came in 2022, when his declared income was Rs 185.68 million, apparently from the sale of a watch that a foreign dignitary had given him.
He declared more than Rs 90 million in Pakistani bank accounts and over $300,000 in foreign currency accounts. He owns more than a dozen properties, most of them inherited, including the family house at Zaman Park in Lahore, and has again declared his Bani Gala home near Islamabad as a gift. He does not own a car.
Why the figure is modest
Declared values in Pakistan are usually far below market prices, especially for inherited land, so the figure says little about what his property would sell for. It is, however, what he officially declared he was worth, which is why we use it rather than unsourced online estimates.
At the October 26, 2026 market exchange rate, Rs 315.95 million is about $1.1 million.
Taxes and income
The 2024 papers showed he paid Rs 15.59 million in income tax for the fiscal year to June 2023, after Rs 11.24 million in 2022 and Rs 0.36 million in 2021, and that he had paid an advance of Rs 11.97 million for a two-bedroom apartment on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.
Six years earlier, Dawn reported, his 2018 papers listed income of Rs 4,776,611 for the year and Rs 103,763 in tax, from farming on his 168 acres of agricultural land, his salary as a member of the National Assembly, a pension from the Pakistan Cricket Board and bank profits.
