How to read this: the headline is the net worth S. Sreesanth declared in his 2016 Kerala election affidavit: total declared assets minus total declared liabilities, as transcribed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (MyNeta) and reported by The New Indian Express and the Hindustan Times. Affidavit values are what the candidate states, often below market value, so this is an official declaration, not a market estimate. We show it as declared and have not adjusted it. Keep in mind it is 10 years old. The figure was published in INR; the US dollar amount next to it is our simple conversion at the European Central Bank reference rate of October 23, 2026, not a separate estimate.

S. Sreesanth is a fast bowler from Kerala who was part of both of India's world titles of the era. He took the catch that sealed the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan, and he played in the 2011 World Cup final. His aggressive style made him one of the most talked-about Indian players of his time.

His career was cut short in 2013 when he was arrested in the IPL spot-fixing case and banned for life by the BCCI. A Delhi court dropped the charges in 2015, and in 2019 the Supreme Court set aside the life ban, which was reduced to seven years. In 2016 he stood for the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram, and his affidavit declared a net worth of about ₹6.9 crore.

How he made his money

Sreesanth's income came from his India contracts and the early IPL seasons with Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan Royals. After the ban he turned to entertainment, appearing in films and reality television.

His 2016 affidavit is the only official record of his wealth we could find. The New Indian Express reported his own self-acquired assets at ₹7.37 crore; the full affidavit, which also covers his wife, lists ₹8.24 crore of assets and ₹1.38 crore of liabilities.

About this figure

Every candidate for an Indian election has to file a sworn affidavit (Form 26) listing everything he and his household own and owe. In his 2016 Kerala election affidavit, S. Sreesanth declared total assets of ₹8,24,43,212 and liabilities of ₹1,37,59,096. We subtract one from the other to get the declared net worth of about ₹6.9 crore, about $0.7 million at the October 23, 2026 exchange rate. The affidavit figures are transcribed by the Association for Democratic Reforms on MyNeta and were reported by national newspapers at the time.

Keep in mind what this number is. Assets in an affidavit are listed at the values the candidate states, and property is often entered well below what it would sell for today. It is an official declaration, not a journalist's estimate of his wealth, and it only covers what was owned on the day it was filed.
