Where the money comes from
| Finance estimate | €69.4 million after a rich NBA career, second among Slovenian athletes on the 2025 list RTV SLO |
| Method | Net career earnings: gross pay minus taxes and estimated agent and other costs Večer |
Goran Dragić, nicknamed "the Dragon", was one of Europe's best guards of his generation. After starting out in Slovenia and Spain he played more than a decade in the NBA, mostly with the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat, and also for Houston, Toronto, Brooklyn, Chicago and Milwaukee. He was the league's Most Improved Player in 2014 and an All-Star in 2018.
With Slovenia he won the country's first EuroBasket title in 2017 and was named MVP of the tournament. Finance's 2025 list of the 100 richest Slovenians puts his fortune at €69.4 million, about $78 million at the October 23, 2026 exchange rate.
How he made his money
Dragić earned most of his money in the NBA, where he signed several large contracts over a long career, above all with Miami. Finance describes his place on the list as the result of a rich NBA career that has now ended.
The magazine's figure is what is left of his gross earnings after tax and costs such as agents. It does not include returns on what he invested, so it is a cautious estimate.
Career at a glance
Dragić was a second-round pick in 2008 and needed a few seasons to establish himself, first as Steve Nash's backup in Phoenix. His breakout came in 2013-14, when he was named Most Improved Player and made the All-NBA Third Team.
He spent the best years of his career in Miami, reaching the 2020 NBA Finals with the Heat, and he is second in all-time points for the Slovenian national team.
About this estimate
Finance, Slovenia's business daily, and its magazine Finance Manager publish a list of the 100 richest Slovenians every November. The 2025 edition came out on November 19, 2025, and was widely reported by RTV SLO, Večer and 24ur. Four athletes made it: Luka Dončić, Goran Dragić, Jan Oblak and Anže Kopitar. The entry threshold was €44.4 million.
For athletes, Finance says it starts from gross career earnings and deducts taxes and estimated costs such as agents, and it does not count any returns on invested savings. That makes it a deliberately cautious estimate of net career earnings, not a full count of everything they own. We show the figure as published, in euros, with a rough dollar conversion. A new edition is due on November 19, 2026.
