Ben Simmons, born in Melbourne to an American father who played professional basketball in Australia, was one of the most hyped prospects of his generation. After one season at LSU he was taken first overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, won Rookie of the Year in 2018 and made three All-Star teams. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2022 and joined the LA Clippers in 2025.
